Fifty students from Health Careers Academy High School in Stockton and Health Professions High School in Sacramento gathered at UC Davis for the Summer Scrubs and Beyond program. The UC Davis C-STEM Center presented robotic demos to highlight the importance of mathematics in high school for students wishing to pursue a career in medicine.

A team of students from the North Area Community School in the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) walked away with a top prize after impressing judges with the troupe of dancing robots they programmed. The North Area Community School is an alternative school. The school serves students in grades 7-12, who are referred by school districts, the Probation Department, or School Attendance Review Boards. The school aims to address the needs of students who have not been successful in traditional school settings with the C-STEM curriculum integrated with hands-on engaging computing and robotics activities.
