On April 28, 2012 the C-STEM Center hosted the Northern California Affiliate Award for the National Center for Women and Information Technology’s (NCWIT) Aspirations in Computing Awards Ceremony.
As part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) seeks to recognize high school women with outstanding achievements and aspirations in computing and technology through the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing.
Girls from Northern California gathered on the UC Davis campus to experience what the University is doing with IT research as well as receive their awards.
The winners of the Award are Danielle Demas, Faith Oakes, Isabella Martinez, Rebecca Harrison, and Sruti Modekurty.

Also presented was the Educator Award presented to Chris Schlesselman, a Physics and Engineering Teacher and C-STEM CREST Fellow from the Hiram Johnson High School of Sacramento City Unified School District, for his work in encouraging young women to pursue Technology as a career into post-secondary study.
