Harry Cheng Receives ASME MESA Achievement Award

Harry H. Cheng, C-STEM Center Director and Professor in the UC Davis Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, received the 2013 Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications (MESA) Achievement Award, presented by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Cheng attended the ceremony, which took place Aug. 6 in Portland, Ore., at ASME’s 2013 International Design Engineering Technical Conference. The award includes a cash prize of $1,500. Cheng will donate the award to the C-STEM program to help create an annual Leadership Award intended for an exemplary middle school student who attends the UC Davis C-STEM Girl’s Leadership Camp for Computing and Robotics, and to help start computing and robotics clubs at the participating schools.

C-STEM Center Hosts a Successful 2013 C-STEM Day

The 3rd UC Davis C-STEM Day was held on Saturday May 4, 2013. The 2013 C-STEM Day was organized by the UC Davis Center for Integrated Computing and STEM Education (C-STEM) and College of Engineering with help from the UC Davis Computing and Robotics Outreach Club as well as 16 HP volunteers serving as judges for RoboPlay Competition. The 2013 C-STEM Day included two events: RoboPlay Challenge Competition and Math Programming Competition. More than 70 teams registered to participate in these competitions.
