Join the 10th Annual Conference on Integrated Computing and STEM Education on December 7 – 10 online from 3 – 5 pm PT organized by UC Davis C-STEM Center in partnership with the California Department of Education and Small School District Association. The theme of this 10th anniversary conference and also for celebration of 2020 CS Education Week is “Equity in CS and Math Education During the Pandemic“.
C-STEM is a UC Approved Educational Preparation Program for Undergraduate Admission for all UC campuses with UCOP A-G Program Status. Since the lockdown due to the pandemic, C-STEM has transitioned to support our K-12 teachers and their students for both classroom and distance learning CS and STEAM with virtual and hardware robots.
The conference provides a forum for policy makers, researchers, district and school administrators, K-12 STEM teachers, and industrial partners to share their vision, research results, best practice, and experience on transforming math education with hands-on coding and robotics, especially on closing the math achievement gap for at-risk students and English language learners.
The conference features 8 keynote speeches by distinguished speakers. They are the thought leaders in the K-12 STEM education. Seventy moderators and panelists of 10 panel sessions are pioneers on integrated hands-on learning math, CS, and STEAM. These presenters will share their vision and experience, and explore engaging ways to teach math, CS, and STEAM for both classroom and distance learning. They will discuss ground-breaking strategies on differentiated and personalized teaching math with coding and robotics from kindergarten to 12th grade in compliance with both Common Core Math and Computer Science Standards. The goal is to prepare all students for post-secondary studies and potential careers in STEM fields.
You will learn from the district and school leaders their strategies on how to integrate computing and robotics into regular math curriculum with our hands-on coding and robotics district and school wide. You will also learn from both experienced and new C-STEM teachers on how to get started with the C-STEM program and have successfully impacted students from ALL backgrounds through C-STEM Robotics, GIRL/GIRL+ Camps, and the annual level-playing-field RoboPlay Competition.
A group of C-STEM teachers, administrator, and superintendent will be recognized as C-STEM Teacher of the Year, C-STEM Administrator of the Year, and Superintendent of the Year for their extraordinary pioneering work on integrated learning math with hands-on coding and robotics. California State Superintendent of Public Education Tony Thurmond will announce the award recipients during his keynote speech. Each awardee will receive three certificates from UC Davis signed by UC Davis Chancellor Gary May and C-STEM Center Director Harry Cheng, California Department of Education signed by State Superintendent of Public Education Tony Thurmond, and the California State Legislature signed by State Senator Bill Dodd.
