As part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) seeks to recognize high school women with outstanding achievements and aspirations in computing and technology through the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing.
The Northern California Affiliate is proud to host this award for thirty-one northern California counties extending from Sacramento north.
We encourage women in grades 9-12 to apply.
National Award
NCWIT seeks high-school-level young women to apply for the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing! The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing honors young women active and interested in computing and encourages them to pursue their passion for technology.
National awrard winners receive:
$500 in cash
A laptop computer
An engraved award (for both the student and her school)
An expenses-paid trip to the national Award ceremony (for the student and her parent/guardian) on March 10, 2012

Also presented was the Educator Award presented to Chris Schlesselman, a Physics and Engineering Teacher and C-STEM CREST Fellow from the Hiram Johnson High School of Sacramento City Unified School District, for his work in encouraging young women to pursue computing related STEM post secondary study.
