A Message from the Director Dear C-STEM Partners,
As the 2015 school year comes to a close, we are excited for the new opportunities that are on the horizon for the C-STEM Center. As the C-STEM program has been granted
UC A-G Program Status and is now also classified as a UC Educational Preparation Program for Undergraduate Admission for all UC campuses, C-STEM A-G approved Integrated Math I/Algebra I with Computing
and Robotics course with math "C' credit along with other "G" electives have being increasingly adopted by schools statewide. We are hoping to further expand the C-STEM program to reach more students
across the state, closing the achievement gap in math and science education.
In Fall 2015 the C-STEM Center will work with schools to pilot a new AP Computer
Science Principles course. This new course will introduce C-STEM students to computer science principles aligned with the learning objectives described in the College Board's CS Principles Curriculum
Framework and prepare students to take the AP CS Principles exam. We are looking forward to working with more schools in this upcoming year as we expand across the state. -- Dr. Harry Cheng, C-STEM Center Director and Professor

C-STEM Day The 2015 C-STEM Day
will take place at two locations: Davis and Irvine, California. C-STEM Day will take place on Saturday May 30th, 2015.
C-STEM Day is split into two events: RoboPlay Competitions and Math Programming Competition. Both locations will have the Roboplay Challenge Competition and RoboPlay Video Competition. The Math Programming Competition
will only be taking place at the UC Davis location. People
can view 2015 C-STEM Day multi-region statewide RoboPlay Competition real-time score on-line. More information regarding the event can be found on the website.
In
order to successfully run this event at all of the locations, we are seeking volunteers to assist with various aspects of the competitions. More information regarding the volunteer positions that we are

The C-STEM Girls in Robotics Leadership (GIRL) Camps are focused on motivating girls in middle school entering 7th or 8th grade in Fall
2015 to learn computing and STEM concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based curriculum with peer-mentoring. We hope this leadership camp will enable them to serve as leaders and inspire other
young girls to gain interest in science and technology through creating and joining robotics clubs in their schools and participating in the RoboPlay Competition on C-STEM Day. The camp participants are also eligible for the Girl’s Leadership
Award.
This year the camp will be held at UC Davis, Mt. Diablo, and San Leandro. Registration is still open for the San Leandro site. If interested,
you can find information regarding the GIRL camp and registration on the website.
